Two were wanted after shots fired in Weldon on Sept. 23

According to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office, two men are being sought after a shooting on the evening of Sept. 23 in the 900 block of Washington Avenue in Weldon.

Major Anzell M. Harris said the men – Dashan Taylor, 29, and Tyquan Brown, 23 – are both from Weldon and frequent the area.

The two are considered armed and dangerous and warrants have been filed against them for first-degree murder in the shooting death of 48-year-old Lamar Lashley. They should not be approached by the public, Harris said.

The shooting occurred on September 23rd around 10:45 p.m.

Halifax County Central Communications received a call about shots fired and patrol officers and detectives responded.

Central Communications received additional calls reporting that a person, later identified as Lashley, was lying in the roadway next to a bicycle. Lashley had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Harris could not say what the motive was for Lashley’s death or how Taylor and Brown were identified as suspected suspects.
