LA DA shares bombshell note from Erik Menendez that could support claims his father sexually abused brothers

The Los Angeles district attorney publicly released a letter that he cited as “new evidence” in the infamous Erik and Lyle Menendez case – as he considers whether to review the brothers’ life sentences for murdering their parents.

Prosecutor George Gascón released a screenshot of the letter Erik Menendez wrote to his cousin more than three decades ago alleging he was abused by his father, but it was quickly deleted, CNN reported.
“I tried to avoid dad. “This still happens, Andy, but it’s worse for me now,” the letter said. “I never know when it’s going to happen and it drives me crazy. Every night I stay awake thinking he might come in.”
The brothers’ legal team has long argued that the letter supports Erik’s claims that he was sexually abused by his father as a child.

Prosecutors deleted the post on Tuesday when it became known that relatives of the Menendez brothers had been invited to a press conference scheduled for Wednesday.

The extended family hopes prosecutors will finally recommend that Erik, 53, and Lyle, 56, be resentenced after spending more than three decades behind bars for the 1989 murder of parents Jose and Kitty Menendez in their Beverly Hills mansion had murdered.

The possible update comes weeks after Gascón announced that his office was reviewing new evidence of alleged harassment in the case to determine whether the brothers should continue to serve life sentences without parole.
