Pecos man Mahmoud Abbad killed in two-vehicle crash on Highway 285

According to DPS, the fatal crash occurred around 7:43 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, on U.S. Highway 285 at mile marker 342.

Mahmoud Abbad killed, Benjamin Hernandez injured in Reeves County collision on Highway 285

Reeves County, TX – The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the person who died after a tractor-trailer struck a vehicle on Highway 285 in Reeves County Saturday morning as Mahmoud M Abbad, 56, of Pecos.

The driver of the international truck, 41-year-old Benjamin Raul Hernandez of Midland, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Reeves County, TX – One person was killed and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash in Reeves County over the weekend, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

According to DPS, the fatal crash occurred around 7:43 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, on U.S. Highway 285 at mile marker 342.
According to DPS, a preliminary investigation revealed that a 2024 International truck was traveling southbound on US 285 while a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling northbound on 285.

For some reason the semi-truck left the road. The driver pulled back onto the roadway, the truck skidded and crashed into the Chevrolet Equinox.

The Equinox caught fire after the collision.

According to DPS, one person died in the accident. The driver of the international truck was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

This accident is still under investigation.
