Plumstead police identify the victim in a fatal motorcycle crash Friday night

Plumstead Township police have released the name of the deceased motorcyclist who died in a crash at Stump Road and Schlentz Hill Road Friday evening. He is Daniel Dougherty, 22, of Blooming Glen Road, Hilltown Township.

Police said Dougherty’s family has been notified of his death.

Police were dispatched to an intersection in Plumstead Township at 7:22 p.m. where a motorcycle accident involving a red Ducati occurred.

Police said Dougherty was traveling east on Stump Road toward Schlentz Hill Road when he failed to negotiate a right curve in the road and left the roadway.

The road was closed until 10:10 p.m. Friday as authorities investigated the scene.

There were no witnesses, police said.

Plumstead Township Police were assisted at the scene by Bedminster Township Police, Hilltown Police, Plumstead Fire Co. and Point Pleasant EMS.

Plumstead Township Police Chief David Mettin said speed may have been a factor in the crash, but the police crash reconstruction team is investigating.
