Man hospitalized after stabbing in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, CA – A man was hospitalized after being stabbed in his lower body late Monday night near the Los Angeles River, according to police.

Police were dispatched to the area near West Del Amo Boulevard and the 710 Freeway around 11:47 p.m. after receiving a report of a stabbing. When they arrived, they found a man with a non-life-threatening stab wound.

Long Beach Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries.

According to initial investigation results, the victim was in the area when an unknown male suspect approached him and stabbed him. The suspect fled before police arrived.

Further information about the motive for the stabbing and the identity of the suspect is not known, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
