Vettaiyan box office sales day 6: Rajinikanth’s action drama witnesses further decline; earned ₹114.60 Crore in India

Vettaiyan collected ₹114.60 crore in India. The Sacnilk report also said that the film had an overall occupancy of 18.34% in Tamil, 16.04% in Telugu and 8.97% in Hindi on Tuesday. Vettaiyan’s India gross collection till Monday is ₹128.7 crore while its worldwide collection is ₹196.5, reported by Sacnilk.

Vettaiyan is based on an investigation into serial murders. Rajinikanth is portrayed as the officer chosen to nab the criminal. The perpetrator is portrayed as a barbaric mastermind who commits crimes against women. Amitabh plays a judge named Sathyadev. The film shows the conflict between their ideologies in law enforcement and encounters with the police. Aside from encounter murders, the film also touches on other relevant social issues. Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, Rohini, Rao Ramesh, Abhirami and Ramesh Thilak also star in Vettaiyan.

Rajinikanth’s character is portrayed as a trigger-happy police officer who is known for encounter killings. In the trailer, he proclaims, “It is not wrong for the police to take the law into their own hands when injustice happens instead of remaining silent.” In the trailer, Amitabh’s Satyadev, a judge who rejects such killings, says, “Justice is justice delayed refused; Justice hastened is justice buried.” Anirudh Ravichander composed the music of the film. The film is produced by Subaskaran Allirajah under production company Lyca Productions and distributed by Red Giant Movies.

Vettaiyan was released in theaters on October 10, 2024. The film’s box office collection remained stable despite facing competition from Rajkummar Rao-Triptii Dimri’s comedy-drama Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Waala Video and Alia Bhatt’s action thriller Jigra, which released on October 11.
