One person was killed in a crash on Highway 81 in Montague County

Montague County, TX – A serious two-vehicle crash occurred Tuesday afternoon on Highway 81 in Montague County, resulting in the death of one person, according to Texas DPS.

The accident occurred on October 15, 2024 on Highway 81 near Moody Road north of Ringgold.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle were involved in the collision.

DPS said Highway 81 north of Ringgold was closed in both directions as emergency crews worked at the scene and traffic was rerouted out of the area.

The victim’s name was not immediately released.

The accident remains under investigation.
