Kate Moss and Lila Moss both received their wings at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on the same evening.

In one of the best moments of the 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, two generations of Moss supermodels appeared in back-to-back segments on the pink runway. Lila Moss, 22, arrived first in a pink bra and string bikini bottom set. Her two-piece was accessorized with a metallic body chain and matching wrap sandal heels — and topped with a huge, Muppet-like fringe jacket in the same mauve pink.

These weren’t Lila Moss’ Victoria’s Secret wings technically Wing. Instead, the model appeared with “Purple” and “VS” in clear acrylic cursive script with scribbled star and heart motifs at either end. The embellishment felt a little like what an aspiring model might draw in her notebook before making it big — although given her pedigree, it’s hard to imagine Moss not making the big break. As “I Love Rock ‘N Roll” played over the speakers, 50-year-old fashion legend Kate Moss took the stage to loud cheers from the crowd. She embodied a punk rock goddess in a look covered in black lace. A nude dress with a thigh-high slit covered a black bra and panty set, matching black tulle wings that rested on her shoulders.

Kate Moss hit the runway wearing oversized hoop earrings, black strappy heels and a brace that could rival the original Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show models. Audiences wondered why she wasn’t cast from the start during her global fashion takeover in the 1990s.

Kate and Lila Moss’ joint debut at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show says a lot about the brand’s current direction (and the skills of its casting director). After a five-year hiatus, Victoria’s Secret is trying to be more inclusive in several ways: Not only has the label cast plus-size models like Ashley Graham and trans models like Valentina Sampaio for the first time, but it’s also prioritizing age inclusivity. Other experienced models in the show were Carla Bruni (59) and Tyra Banks (50).
