A man died in a fatal accident on the Sloop Point Loop on Sunday

HAMPSTEAD, NC (WECT) – A car accident on the Sloop Point Loop left a man dead on Sunday, October 13th.

NC State Highway Patrol deputies said 21-year-old Landon Matthews was traveling north when he went off the road into a ditch and struck a tree around 7:47 p.m

The police confirmed that he was not wearing a seatbelt.

The accident is still under investigation.
