Public backlash against drama series “Girhein” for depiction of black magic is growing – Entertainment

(Web Desk) – The drama series “Girhein” is facing backlash for its depiction of black magic.

Public resistance to the broadcast of the drama series Girhein (2024), which is about an elderly woman who practices black magic, is growing.

Many social media users expressed outrage and claimed the show crossed moral and religious boundaries.

They claimed that the drama depicts topics that are strictly forbidden in Islam.

Critics argued that the depiction of black magic not only glorified a harmful practice but also risked influencing the viewer.

The explicit depiction of the drama about casting spells and the resulting consequences has led to calls for an immediate ban.

Proponents of the ban stressed that such content could have harmful effects on society.

They stressed that this encourages practices that are already a problem in the country.

One user said: “Representing this is very wrong. You all know that Pakistani women follow these dramas very closely.

“Don’t promote such things with drama.”

Another said: “This drama should be banned! Please don’t show this now, there are so many households ruined by black magic.”

One commented: “Directors and writers! I don’t think you know that it’s forbidden to do such things, even in dramas.

“Cancel this drama!”

Girhein was produced by 7th Sky Entertainment, written by Imran Nazir and directed by Salim Ghanchi.

The cast includes notable actors including Behroz Sabzwari, Shehryar Zaidi, Azra Mohiuddin, Beena Chaudhry, Hisham Khan and Sahar Afzal.
