This attraction is not for the faint of heart

I’m not the biggest horror fan and will be the first to admit that I get scared easily, but I thought I’d step out of my comfort zone when I attended the opening night of Journey to Hell at Blackpool Pleasure Beach on Friday 11th October Resort attended.

I knew the actors couldn’t touch me, but they could follow you, and that made for a scary experience. I’ve been looking over my shoulder ever since. The cast of “Journey to Hell” consists of 70 actors who hide on rides, in queues or in the park.

When I entered the park with my friend, the first scare zone we entered was the Cabinet of Curiosities. This was a bizarre labyrinth full of inexplicable sights and cruel creatures. I found this maze more fascinating than scary as my eye was drawn to all the unique costumes and decorations on display, although you could definitely hear screams from others in the group along the way.

It would have been a mistake to base the rest of the experience on the fun I felt in the first fear zone. I spent the other three fear zones hiding behind my friend and glancing over my shoulder every two seconds. The later it got into the evening, the scarier the mass seemed.

With clowns, plague doctors and witches lurking in the darkness, you always had to be on your guard or fall victim to one of the many jump scares lurking in the shadows. I’ve ridden the ghost train many times at this resort and thought it would be a breeze, but I was surprised at how many actors were hiding in the darkness at every turn. It was definitely a much scarier version of the famous attraction.

Once again I had undermined how scary a ride can be when me and my partner visited one of the fairground rides and scare zone – Down The Rabbit Hole. The classic Alice in Wonderland ride transforms into a nightmarish world.

This is what nightmares are made of, terrible figures that lurk among our favorite childhood characters. And to make matters worse, a terrifying giant rabbit awaits you at the end of your journey. The jump scares on this ride are definitely not for the faint of heart.

The scariest fear zone of the four might be the Twisted Tunnels. Navigating 100-year-old underground tunnels in the middle of the night doesn’t sound very safe – especially if you’re not alone.

However, the plot’s addition to this scare zone made it one of the most captivating, with sounds, smells and visions all forming a perfect horror theme. I was unlucky enough to be at the front of this attraction, so I screamed more times than I’d like to admit since I was the first to encounter these heartbreaking creatures and characters.

Before I even entered Twisted Tunnels, I was spooked by the devils weaving through the crowd. Normally I’m never at a loss for words, but how these actors couldn’t destroy their character even once was beyond me. I tried my best to get them to smile, but they persisted with their eerie aura that frightened many in the queue.

There was so much going on in and around the park, including a witch parade that took place frequently Fire breathers, stilt walkers, roller skaters, musicians and a live DJ performed throughout the night.

Unlimited rides were available on many of the fairgrounds’ most famous rides, including Valhalla, Big Dipper, Flying Machines, Infusion and Derby Racer – the perfect evening for both thrill seekers and anyone who loves all things horror.
