Bloomington doctor charged with sexually abusing teenager in Ford County

FORD COUNTY (25News Now) – A Bloomington doctor remained behind bars Tuesday at the Ford County Jail in Paxton, accused of traveling to meet a teenager for sex last week.

Kynan A. Brown, 41, is charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim who is at least 13 years old and younger than 17 years old. Brown is also charged with traveling to the minor by contacting the teen online or via email using another electronic device, the court file says.

Charging documents say the crimes occurred on or about Thursday, Oct. 10, in Ford County.

Brown was one of six medical school graduates who participated in the newly established three-year family medicine residency program at OSF HealthCare St. Joseph Medical Center. according to an OSF release dated July 7, 2023.

OSF HealthCare released the following statement:

“We are aware of the situation and are taking it very seriously. We are following all necessary internal policies and procedures and cannot provide further details regarding employment matters.”

The two aggravated sexual abuse charges against Brown are Class 2 felonies, each punishable by up to 14 years in prison if he is found guilty and the court determines he is eligible for an extended sentence .

Traveling to meet a minor is a Class 3 felony, punishable by a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
