Voter information for the November 5, 2024 general election

A general election will be held on November 5, 2024 to elect candidates for federal, state and district offices and obtain approval for ballot measures. Questions about voting are best directed by email to the Johnson County Auditor’s Office at [email protected] or call (319) 356-6004.

Local, state and federal elections throughout Johnson County, including North Liberty, are the responsibility of the Johnson County Auditor’s Office. North Liberty encourages its residents to register and vote to participate in their government. The county auditor has detailed information about this election online, including candidates, registration, early voting and polling locations.

Vote early and by mail

Early voting is possible. Ballot petitions must be received in the auditor’s office by October 21 at 5:00 p.m.

In-person absentee voting will be available beginning Oct. 16 at the county auditor’s office, the Johnson County Administration Building, 913 S. Dubuque St. or the Health & Human Services Building parking ramp (drive-in voting), 855 S. Dubuque St., in Iowa City, weekdays from Wednesday, October 16, to Monday, November 4, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Extended hours are available Monday, October 28th through Wednesday, October 30th from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on weekends. Both office and on-site hours will be Saturday, October 26th and Sunday, October 27th from 12:00 p.m to 5 p.m., Saturday, November 2nd, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, November 3rd, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. instead of 5 p.m

Additionally, several satellite locations are hosted and the following locations are planned. A Johnson County voter can vote at any satellite location.

  • Oct. 19, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Oct. 20, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Coralville Public Library, 1401 5th St., Coralville
  • Oct. 21-23, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Iowa Memorial Union, 125 N. Madison St., Iowa City in Hubbard Commons
  • October 21-23, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, 200 Hawkins Drive, Iowa City – Fountain Lobby
  • Oct. 24, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Iowa Health Care – Iowa River Landing Clinic, 920 E 2nd Ave, Coralville
  • Oct. 25, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Iowa Health Care – Health Care Support Services Building, 3281 Ridgeway Drive, Coralville
  • Oct. 26, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Oct. 27, noon to 5 p.m. and Oct. 28 to Oct. 30, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Iowa City Public Library, 123 S. Linn St., Iowa City
  • Nov. 1, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Nov. 2, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the North Liberty Library, 520 W. Cherry St., North Liberty

Voting on election day

Polling stations are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. On election day, voters vote at their polling station. In order to vote on Election Day, voters must show ID.

Register to vote

A voter must register every time they move, change their name, or change their political affiliation. Voters can register to vote as soon as they receive mail at their home, provided they are a U.S. citizen, an Iowa resident, and at least 17 ½ years old (to be 18 on Election Day to vote) . Registration is possible online, by post or in person; Learn about requirements and download forms at the Johnson County Auditor’s website. You can register in person at your regular polling station on election day.
