Find out how spooky your city is with this new interactive map

Be careful, the results may shock you.

While you may think your neighborhood is the spookiest of all this Halloween season, your city could be linked to a nearby zip code. To settle the debate, Instacart has developed a tool to find out which cities across the United States are having the most raucous Halloween experience this year using its new interactive Halloween map and “Scare Score” technology.

What is a scare score and how is it calculated?

Instacart’s interactive mapping tool collected data from previous Halloween seasons to determine which cities purchased the most candy, costumes and decorations based on shopping data and order volume per person in the region. Scare value is rated on a scale of up to 100 and includes an index for all categories. You can determine your neighborhood’s scare score by searching your zip code in the tool and seeing how your city performs in each category.

The results for each zip code include the best-selling candies and local favorites, calculated using the total weight of each candy delivered in the zip code in October 2023. You can increase the spookiness of your town this year by ordering your candy, costumes and decorations for delivery.
