Southbury man arrested for identity theft, outstanding warrant

SOUTHBURY – According to Southbury police, a routine traffic stop on Oct. 14 resulted in the arrest of a local man for using a false identity and an outstanding warrant.

Officers stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation and discovered that the driver, Carl Conklin, born January 6, 1970, attempted to mislead them by providing a false name and date of birth.

The stop occurred at 5:16 p.m. and led to Conklin’s arrest.

Further investigation revealed that Conklin had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for a probation violation.

He now faces charges including identity theft, obstructing an officer, improper use of a license plate, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and failing to signal an officer.

Conklin was held on $4,000 bonds and transferred to the custody of probation officers.

He was scheduled to appear in court at Waterbury Superior Court on Oct. 15.
