Broken Bow man arrested for attempted murder after drive-by shooting

BROKEN BOW, Neb. (KNOP) – A Broken Bow man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a drive-by shooting on October 2nd.

According to a Custer County Court affidavit, a female victim reported that 19-year-old Carsen Wilson followed her and her boyfriend around Merna in his black car for about 30 minutes. He then reportedly fired three shots at their vehicle and drove away toward Broken Bow.

Court documents indicate the victim and Wilson knew each other.

Two Custer County officers responded to the call and stopped a black car about a mile northwest of Broken Bow. Wilson was in the driver’s seat and had a female passenger with him, the deputy wrote.

Upon further investigation, officers learned that a Wilson had a gun hidden under the driver’s seat. Officers conducted a search for a possible perpetrator of the vehicle and found a 9mm Roebuck handgun with a 12-round magazine, according to court documents.

Officers said there were five rounds left in the gun and described the barrel as “warm to the touch.”

Wilson was arrested and taken to the Custer County Jail. He is charged with 15 felonies, including two counts of attempted first-degree murder, and his bail is set at 10% of $1 million. He will be back in court on October 28 at 3 p.m

  • Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony
  • 2 counts of attempted first degree murder
  • 2 counts of attempted first degree assault
  • Possession of a stolen firearm
  • Attempted domestic violence in the first degree
  • 2 counts of terrorist threats
  • Stalking in 2 cases
