A Quincy man has been arrested in a stabbing on Boston Common, police said

A Quincy man was arrested Saturday in connection with an early morning stabbing on Boston Common earlier this month, police said Tuesday.

Philip Chen, 27, was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, knife, assault on an elderly and/or disabled person causing serious injury and theft of less than $250 on an elderly and/or disabled person, said the police in a statement.

At 8:18 a.m. on October 1, a man was found at Brewer Fountain who had been stabbed multiple times. Officers administered first aid and applied a tourniquet before he was taken to a hospital, police said. Authorities did not provide any information about his condition on Tuesday.

Investigators investigated and applied for an arrest warrant for Chen. He was arrested shortly after midnight Saturday in downtown Boston near the intersection of Summer and Otis streets, police said. Officers saw Chen while conducting a separate drug investigation in the area, police said.

Chen was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday. It was not immediately clear whether he had hired a lawyer.
