Sherrone Moore prays for Jim Harbaugh amid health scares

There was an immediate worrying reaction, not just from Sherrone Moore but across the football world. This included Jim’s brother John Harbaugh He cut short his postgame press conference to make sure his brother was OK.

Ultimately, as Jim Harbaugh explained, he suffered from atrial flutter before the game.

“I think it’s a minor problem – it’s called atrial flutter. I got into an episode with that today,” Harbaugh said. “The doctors examined me and it went back into sinus rhythm, so the normal rhythm… I could see that there were some irregular beats. Had a couple ablations – one in 1999 and one in 2012. I always remember the one in 2012 because it was during the Monday Night game… It wasn’t even during the game. After the game I was checked out. I ended up having to undergo an ablation because it wouldn’t get back into rhythm.”

Harbaugh first hired Moore as a tight ends coach on Michigan’s offensive staff in 2018. He was later promoted to offensive coordinator and offensive line coach, and when Harbaugh was suspended, he replaced him as the team’s interim head coach. This 2023 season, Moore’s in-game coaching helped the Wolverines have an undefeated season en route to a national championship. During this time, Harbaugh mentored Moore, with the Michigan job eventually going to Moore when Harbaugh returned there NFL.

In his first season as head coach at Michigan, Moore is 4-2 and has struggled with a difficult quarterback situation. Harbaugh, for his part, is 3-2 against the Chargers, including a win following his medical scare.
