Enumclaw woman arrested after three-car crash that killed two people

No charges have yet been filed against the resident who is said to have caused the accident while attempting to overtake several other vehicles.

Two people were killed and three others were injured in a three-vehicle crash on State Route 410 last Sunday.

According to a news release from the Washington State Patrol, the driver of vehicle one – an Enumclaw woman – was driving west toward milepost 34 between Enumclaw and Greenwater around 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 13 when she allegedly attempted to pass several other vehicles entering the eastbound lane.

The second vehicle was one of the cars that someone tried to overtake.

The third vehicle was traveling east; To avoid an accident, vehicle one attempted to return to the westbound lane but collided with vehicle two.

Vehicle two lost control, entered the eastbound lane and struck vehicle three.

Vehicle one ended up on an embankment while the other two vehicles blocked the eastbound lane.

The Enumclaw resident and the driver and passenger of vehicle three, both from Seattle, were transported to Harborview Hospital.

The driver and passenger of the second vehicle, from Seattle, were killed and pronounced dead at the scene; Her identity has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.

A witness to the accident told the Courier-Herald that before first responders arrived, Shane Treat and Kasarah Gregg attempted to save the lives of the two Seattle residents by turning off the airbags, removing them from their car and performing a cardiopulmonary performed resuscitation, but they failed to do it. Treat did not respond to a call for comment before press time.

The Enumclaw resident was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide. However, she has never been charged with a crime, and the Courier-Herald typically does not name suspects without charges.
