Sioux Center man taken to hospital after accident

Sioux Center, Iowa – A Sioux Center man was hospitalized following an accident in Sioux Center on Saturday, October 12, 2024.

Sioux Center Police report that 34-year-old Brianna Hayes of Sioux City was driving a 2013 Audi southbound on 13th Avenue Southeast, at the southeast corner of Sioux Center, at approximately 2:40 p.m. They tell us 62-year-old Randy Nuzum of Sioux Center was traveling east on 20th Street Southeast in a 2003 Ford pickup.

According to the report, Hayes had a yield sign and Nuzum was preparing to turn left onto 13th Avenue Southeast. Hayes allegedly failed to notice the yield sign and crossed the intersection without yielding to Nuzum. The Hayes vehicle struck the Nuzum vehicle in the middle of the driver’s side.

Sioux Center Ambulance took Nuzum to Sioux Center Health Hospital.

Hayes’ Audi suffered $12,000 in damages and Nuzum’s Ford pickup suffered $10,000 in damages. The damage was deemed severe enough to destroy both vehicles.

Hayes was charged with failure to obey the sign.
