VSU was briefly placed on lockdown after shots were fired near the dorm

CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) – Virginia State University was briefly placed on lockdown after shots were fired Monday night.

According to an emergency alert from VSU Police, the shooting occurred around 7:15 p.m. Oct. 14 near Moore Hall, an on-campus residence hall, putting the area on lockdown.

There has so far been no information about any injuries or suspects.

The school says campus police and Chesterfield County police are investigating.

At 8:30 p.m., VSU police cleared the area and lifted the lockdown.
