Weather in Chicago: First frost warning of the season issued for parts of the region

It was a cool start to the week with high temperatures in the 50s and scattered lake-effect rain showers. The environment was favorable for gargoyles Monday, and one was spotted just before noon about 15 miles off the coast of Indiana Dunes State Park.

Scattered showers and possibly a few thunderstorms are possible this evening with lows in the upper 30s and lower 40s. On Tuesday it will be significantly cooler than normal, with maximum temperatures barely reaching 50 degrees. It will be windy tomorrow, with isolated showers and thunderstorms possible.

A freeze warning has been issued for western Chicagoland from Tuesday night into early Wednesday as temperatures are expected to fall below freezing. The following counties are on Freeze Watch: McHenry, DeKalb, Kane, LaSalle, Kendall and Grundy.

Brighter skies are expected through midweek and sunny skies Wednesday through Friday. Temperatures will get warmer each day, from the mid 50s on Wednesday to the upper 60s on Friday.

The weekend looks great with sunshine and high temperatures in the 70s.
