Police are investigating sexual assaults on Rock Creek Trail

Maryland-National Capital Park police are searching for a suspect in connection with the sexual assault of a woman on the Rock Creek Stream Valley Trail in North Chevy Chase on Tuesday, authorities said.

The attack occurred at the Jones Mill Road Playground at the intersection of Woodhollow Drive and Jones Mill Road, Park Police said in a news release Thursday.

According to police, the woman was walking along the path when a man approached her and touched her “inappropriately.” Police did not say what time of day the attack occurred or whether the woman was alone or with other people.

The Montgomery County Department of Park Police is investigating the incident and asks anyone with information to contact the Park Police Tip Line at 301-929-2748 or [email protected].

Police described the suspect as a black man between the ages of 20 and 25, approximately 6 feet tall, wearing a T-shirt and sweatpants, both black, and a black cap.

Police advise trail users to go with a friend or group if possible, carry a cell phone to call 911, a whistle or noise generator, and be alert.
