Gregg Wallace addresses allegations of ‘sexual comments’ following BBC investigation

Gregg Wallace has denied saying “anything sexual” during his appearance on a BBC show more than half a decade ago.

The 59-year-old MasterChef UK judge responded to reports that there was an alleged incident in 2018 while appearing on Impossible Celebrities that was investigated by the BBC.

As the Sun newspaper reported, the BBC’s review concluded he could continue to work for the company.

In an Instagram post following the cover story on Monday, Wallace said: “The story appearing in the newspapers this morning was promptly investigated by the BBC when it happened six years ago.

“And the result was that I hadn’t said anything sexual. I have to repeat this again. I didn’t say anything sexual.”

He previously fronted Inside The Factory before saying last year that he was stepping away to look after his autistic and non-verbal son Sid, who he shares with his wife Anne-Marie Sterpini.

In another video, the former greengrocer said: “Contrary to what the newspapers said, six years ago no one accused me of flirting with anyone or hitting on anyone.

“And the reason I say that is because of my wife Anna. I have always remained faithful to my wife Anna and have never flirted or hit on anyone in the 12 years I have met and fallen in love with her.

“And it’s important that I be faithful to my wife so that people don’t misunderstand that.”

A BBC spokesman said: “While we do not comment on individuals, when issues are raised they are dealt with quickly and appropriately.”

“We have a zero tolerance for inappropriate behavior and have robust processes in place.”

Wallace has two children, Tom and Libby, from a previous relationship.

Together with Ms. Sterpini he wrote Gregg’s Italian Family Cookbook.

The original Saturday Kitchen host has appeared on various BBC shows including Eat Well For Less, Supermarket Secrets, Celebrity MasterChef and MasterChef: The Professionals, and was a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing in 2014.
