Belgium vs France prediction, odds, betting tips and best bets for the UEFA Nations League game

Belgium and France both trail Italy in the UEFA Nations League group standings and meet in Brussels on Monday hoping to catch the Group A2 leaders.

Belgium is continuing the country’s decades-long trend of disappointing at major tournaments after picking up just four points from its first three group games. While the “Golden Generation” of players have aged to the point of being largely phased out, the next group of stars are carrying that unfortunate mantle.

France, on the other hand, have been reeling since their agonizing deficit at the 2022 World Cup. They reached the semi-finals of Euro 2024, but never seemed to convince fans of their true title chances, and followed that up with a defeat against Italy to open the following Nations League season.

Both teams could use a big win here, especially Belgium, who were soundly beaten by this French team in their first two Nations League games just last month.

Belgium vs France Prediction, Odds

  • Moneyline Lean: France (-105)
  • Result prediction: Belgium – France 0:2

France’s recent relegation to other top European teams has apparently thrown the betting market into disarray, and these days no one knows what to expect from Les Bleus.

But there is one thing we can be sure of, and that is that Belgium cannot put up a confident performance against top teams. While France have struggled recently against the likes of Italy, Spain and Portugal, Belgium will offer little resistance unless players are sent off in France, as happened in Italy a few days earlier.

Belgium vs France best bet

  • Choose: Christopher Nkunku to score or assist
  • Opportunities: +125 (FanDuel)

After being absent from a strong French team for years, Christopher Nkunku has finally been called up to the squad and is making good on Didier Deschamps’ trust. A few days ago he was the best offensive player in the 4-1 win against Israel, scoring his first international goal and also providing a creative boost.

The same goes for his current club too, as Nkunku is unfortunately stuck behind the in-form Nicolas Jackson, but still manages to make an impact when he finds the field, scoring in all four games he has started achieved.

While France’s defensive form has been up and down of late (more on that below), Nkunku can be counted on to give the team a boost in the final third.

Prop bet Belgium vs France

  • Choose: Belgium under 0.5 total goals
  • Opportunities: +185 (BetMGM)

At the start of Euro 2024, France defeated both Austria and the Netherlands in two dismal games, which Didier Deschamps criticized for playing too conservatively. Since then, France have gone in the opposite direction, conceding unusually stupid goals in order to gain more attacking power.

After conceding these first two goals at the European Championships, France have only kept three opponents off the scoresheet – two of them are Belgium. In fact, Belgium have failed to score in three of their last four games against France and have been modest in all three games. combine for just nine shots on goal. While there is no public xG data available for France’s 1-0 win at the 2018 World Cup, Belgium have posted a meager 0.79 xG in their last two games against Les Bleus.

Don’t expect anything to be different this time, especially after Belgium looked second best in the first 38 minutes against Italy before Lorenzo Pellegrini’s first-half sending off saved them. Nobody apart from Leandro Trossard seemed even remotely interested in making a difference in the attacking third.
