Trump criticizes the biopic about The Apprentice after assault allegations against Ivana

Donald Trump criticized the biopic “The Apprentice,” which features a violent scene with his late ex-wife Ivana, calling it “fake and classless.” He expressed his outrage at the publication and its impact.

Former President Donald Trump has responded forcefully to allegations surrounding the biographical drama “The Apprentice,” which depicts a disturbing incident involving his late ex-wife Ivana Trump. The film, which premiered in the US on Friday, stars Sebastian Stan as Trump and Jeremy Strong as Roy Cohn. It reflects Trump’s rise as a real estate mogul in New York in the late 20th century.

The film contains a deeply disturbing scene in which Trump violently pushes Ivana to the ground and attacks her, a moment that has sparked widespread backlash. In light of these allegations, Trump described the filmmakers’ portrayal of his relationship with Ivana, who died in 2022, as misleading. He claimed they had “a great relationship…until her death.”

Trump’s condemnation of the film

On Truth Social, Trump criticized “The Apprentice” as a “fake and classless” production and expressed outrage at the filmmakers for using his name without permission. He described the film as a “cheap, defamatory and politically repugnant hatchet” designed to undermine his political movement ahead of the 2024 presidential election.

“It’s an attempt to damage the greatest political movement in our country’s history: ‘MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!'” he said. Trump also criticized Gabe Sherman, the film’s author, calling him a “bad and talentless hack” and lamented the lack of accountability of those who create narratives he sees as harmful.

Source of the scene in question

The controversial scene in “The Apprentice” is inspired by Ivana’s court testimony during her divorce from Trump in 1990, a statement she later retracted in 2015. Journalist Harry Hurt III, who investigated the divorce case, claimed that Trump’s frustration over scalp surgery led to the violent altercation depicted in the film.

The film’s author noted that the dramatized scene “is actually far more graphic and brutal than the one we dramatized in the film,” adding to the ongoing debate about the accuracy and ethical implications of such depictions.
