2 dead in Bronzeville traffic accident

A man and a woman died after a car ran a red light and plowed into their car in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the South Side early Monday.

Around 1:40 a.m., an 18-year-old was driving a black Infiniti sedan southbound in the 3500 block of South Michigan Avenue when he failed to stop at a red light and struck a silver car at the intersection, according to police Chicago said.

The driver of the silver car, a 45-year-old man, was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said. A 40-year-old woman, his passenger, was taken to the same hospital where she died.

The driver of the Infiniti was taken to the University of Chicago, where he was listed in good condition, officials said.

The Major Accident Unit investigated the accident.
