Ex-DOJ official announces ‘massive crisis’ on Election Day

Former acting Attorney General Neal Katyal suggested this weekend that GOP vice presidential nominee JD Vance was “a barometer for the Republican Party” as he repeatedly refused to admit that GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump won the 2020 election against President Joe Biden lost – and Katyal warned what that could lead to immediately after next month’s vote.

“You know me, I’m usually a voice of calm and I’m not here today as a voice of calm,” Obama-era Justice Department official Katyal told MSNBC’s Jen Psaki.

Katyal imagined – thanks to comments from Trump, Vance and countless other Republicans denying the election results – a “coming massive crisis” in which Trump and his allies would declare victory even if Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, wins, actually wins.

Trump and the Republicans will “pressure the courts, they will pressure the state legislatures, they will pressure the state governors, and they will pressure the United States Congress to throw out the popular vote and pass this election Shenanigans,” Katyal warned.

Later, Katyal asked, “If they can’t admit they lost in 2020, why do you think they’ll admit it even if Kamala Harris wins overwhelmingly in 2024?”
