DeWitt, NY – A Dewitt police cruiser was involved in a crash Sunday afternoon while an officer was responding to a call, police said.

According to Jerry Pace, a spokesman for the DeWitt Police Department, the officer responded to a call about a fight between 10 and 15 people in the area of ​​Caton Drive around 2:43 p.m.

The officer was driving west on Kinne Road with emergency lights and sirens blaring when the patrol car collided with a southbound Mazda CX5 on Erie Boulevard East.

The two cars collided at the intersection and the patrol car was struck on the passenger side, Pace said.

The officer and the two people in the Mazda were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, he said.

Due to the damage, both vehicles were towed away. No tickets have been issued at this time, he said.
