The Houston Cougars and the Kansas Jayhawks meet on Saturday in college football at Arrowhead Stadium. Here is a prediction for Kansas vs. Houston. We’ll look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best choice between Kansas and Houston.

Houston Cougars Betting Preview

Houston opened the season with some tough matchups, losing to UNLV 27-7 and Oklahoma 16-12. The Cougars beat Rice 33-7 in the third game, then fell to Cincinnati 34-0 and Iowa State 20-0 in the next pair.

The Cougars picked up another win on October 4th against TCU. Houston led 24-6 at halftime and eventually made it 30-19. QB Zeon Chriss finished the game with 141 yards and a score while also leading the rush with 97 yards and another touchdown.

Kansas Jayhawks Betting Preview

The Jayhawks started their season with a stunning 48-3 victory over Lindenwood. However, Kanas would lose the next five games, losing to Illinois, UNLV, West Virginia, TCU and Arizona State during that time.

In their last game against Arizona State, the Jayhawks held a 17-14 lead heading into the final quarter. From then on, however, Kansas gave up 21 points and ultimately lost 35-31. Jalon Daniels rushed for 260 yards with two scores and Devin Neal led the ground attack with 14 carries for 71 yards and a TD.

Kansas vs Houston Prediction

I might try Kansas. However, one could argue this either way. The Jayhawks didn’t play particularly well in their last game against Arizona State, totaling 411 yards (260 passes), 23 first downs and 6.4 yards per game. The only outstanding blemish was the 309 rushing yards allowed; It’s hard to win a game when you give up so much on the ground.

As for Houston, they went just 5 of 13 on third down against TCU but managed 207 rushing yards in the win. The Cougars defense was pretty good with four takeaways and 3 of 10 third down attempts allowed. If the Cougars can get their running game going this weekend, they will make life pretty difficult for the Jayhawks. However, when it comes to the cover, I’m still leaning slightly towards Kansas.
