The Australian Shepherd Club of America is hosting the 50th annual National Specialty Show

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) – The Australian Shepherd Club of America is celebrating its 50th annual show at Fonner Park in Grand Island.

The show started on Friday and ends on October 19th. There will be around 500 participants and over 1,000 Australian Shepherds from around the world. The competition will take place in a range of categories including scent detection, tracking, agility, conformation and other events that showcase the skills of trained Australian Shepherds.

Denise Creelman, chair of the Australian Shepherd Specialty Show, said the exhibition was significant because it created camaraderie among participants.

“This is our family, I’ve been doing this for almost 50 years and I have friends that I’ve seen 30 times and it’s always at Nationals because people come from all over the country,” Creelman said. She also shared every year the show is successful and people have the opportunity to bring their dogs to compete against the best Australian Shepherds in the world.

The show ends with a best of breed and best of winners ceremony. Participants will receive ribbons and other prizes if they place first through tenth.
