A teenager was killed and several injured in Saturday night’s shooting in Elbert County, Georgia

ELBERT COUNTY, GA (FOX Carolina) – A 15-year-old has died and seven others were injured following a shooting outside an Elbert County nightclub Saturday evening, officials said.

According to Elbert Co. emergency director and coroner Chuck Amond, the shooting occurred just before midnight Saturday outside the 7 Grands nightclub on Evergreen Drive. The incident is now classified as a homicide.

The victims were between 15 and 19 years old, including a 41-year-old adult, officials said. Five victims were taken to a nearby hospital where they were examined and released. Two others were transported to Athens and one victim was flown to a helipad on state-of-the-art life support. The 15-year-old victim died from his injuries.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is currently leading the investigation. Officials told FOX Carolina GBI will release a statement with more details either later Sunday or early Monday.
