1 dead after vehicle accident Sunday morning in Simpson County

FRANKLIN, Ky. (WBKO) – Kentucky State Police responded to a fatal vehicle accident between a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck just before 3 a.m. in Franklin.

KSP Post 3 said it happened around mile marker 6 on I-65. They said 24-year-old Alberto Andres of Portland, Tennessee, was driving his Chevrolet Silverado southbound when it veered onto the outside shoulder of the road and collided with a Freightliner utility vehicle driven by 41-year-old Tiras Prothro of Chicago .

Andres’ passenger, 24-year-old Bartolo Frecisco of Portland, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Simpson County Coroner’s Office.

Andres was treated for unknown injuries at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville and Prothro was uninjured.

The Simpson County Sheriff’s Office, Simpson County EMS and Simpson County Fire Department also responded to the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
