Two were arrested in connection with reports of shots fired on Boyd Lane early Saturday morning

COLUMBIA, Missouri (KMIZ)

An adult and a juvenile were arrested early Saturday morning in connection with reports of shots fired in the 1500 block of Boyd Ln. early Saturday morning, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.

The release states that around 3 a.m. Saturday, Columbia Police responded to a report of shots fired in the 1500 block of Boyd Ln. According to the press release, evidence of gunshots was found.

When officers arrived, they saw a stolen car fleeing the area. Officers pursued the car to the dead end of N. Waterfront Dr., and five suspects exited the car and ran away from officers on foot.

When the suspects got out, they abandoned the car and rolled into a lake at the end of N. Waterfront Dr.

Columbia police arrested 19-year-old Z’Kardia Williams of Columbia and a juvenile on charges of second-degree tampering and resisting arrest. According to the press release, additional suspects are currently outstanding.

The Boone County Fire Protection District and the Missouri State Highway Patrol helped remove the car from the lake, the release said.

The press release states that this is an ongoing investigation.
