Wood-fired pizza from Ash & Oak is coming to Main Street Williamstown

Wood-fired pizza from Ash & Oak is coming to Main Street Williamstown

Ash & Oak is a new wood-fired pizza shop opening in a few weeks on Williamstown’s Main Street. The new restaurant for artisanal pizza, pasta and more is being developed by Traveling Tomato’s popular mobile pizza team.

The location for the new year-round restaurant in Williamstown is across the street from 13th Child Brewery, and Ash & Oak’s casual yet delicious menu offerings should prove to be a perfect match for the two businesses.

No matter what day, what occasion, what circumstances… You can never go wrong with pizza and beer! Delicious pizza and local beer.

It’s easy to imagine customers taking a freshly baked wood-fired pizza to 13th Child, or perhaps grabbing some delicious freshly brewed beers and heading to the newly renovated Ash & Oak dining room.

OMG! The best pizza I’ve eaten in a long time. Seriously, the combination of ingredients was well planned when putting together these pizza recipes. Let’s talk about the chorizo and dates pizza! I could have this every day if it was an option 😀 You’ll have to try them when the truck comes near you. The best? They call it a traveling tomato, but there are white pizzas!!! These are the ones I prefer.

Traveling Tomato – Yelp review from an Elite 24 reviewer

I stopped by a few days ago and met with Vince, who is working with his partners on some interior upgrades to the former Nicolette’s On Main restaurant and expects to open in just a few weeks…early November at the latest with hopes of opening sooner.

Vince has had a successful career in the restaurant industry, which included culinary arts school, and experience at several restaurants including Café Loren Avalon and the casino restaurants in Atlantic City.

Most notable, however, is the Traveling Tomato mobile wood-fired event/catering pizza truck, which in just a few years has become a fan favorite at South Jersey’s top festivals, events, wineries and breweries.

Ash & Oak began its journey as a humble food truck called Traveling Tomato, bringing authentic wood-fired pizza to festivals, events and neighborhoods across New Jersey. Our passion for making simple, quality pizza using fresh, local ingredients has quickly gained a loyal following.

So don’t worry… you’ll continue to see the Traveling Tomato at your favorite top events next season… but that’s exactly why Vince and his team are excited about Ash & Oak.

Ash & Oak Williamstown is a full restaurant and dining room open year-round…which is a perfect balance to the warm Traveling Tomato season.

It’s a smart balance for the partners because as we all know, restaurants experience a decline in sales during the warmer months in New Jersey as customers focus more on outdoor activities and the Jersey Shore…hence Travel’s mixed year-round revenue streams Tomato and Ash & Oak seems like a very clever balance.

And the upcoming Main Street Restaurant will also feature an outdoor dining area.

In the ash and oak dining room area, they refreshed all the color and added their own decorative touches. However, the room was mostly already set up as a great casual dining area and already had the large wood burning stove.

Tables and chairs were returned to the room, but due to my unannounced visit, the entire restaurant area was not “camera ready” that day.

I noticed that part of the dining room looked move-in ready, reflecting not only the dining room experience but also the Ash & Oak mindset.

One of the first things Vince added to the decorations was a photo of famous celebrity foodie Anthony Bourdain, a person Vince admired and was inspired by. The quote along with the photo captures Vince’s attitude towards both life and his upcoming Ash & Oak.

Eat at a local restaurant tonight. Get the cream sauce. Have a cold pint in a mostly empty bar at 4pm. Go somewhere you’ve never been before. Listen to someone who you think has nothing in common with you. Order the steak rare. Eat an oyster. Eat a Negroni. Have two. Be open to a world where you may not understand or agree with the person next to you, but have a drink with them anyway. Eat slowly. Tip your server. Check in with your friends. Check yourself. Enjoy the ride.

For the menu, of course, Ash & Oak is bringing their amazing artisanal wood-fired pizzas to Main Street Williamstown!

But the Traveling Tomato team is excited to have a fully equipped kitchen and looks forward to using the much larger kitchen to offer an expanded menu.

Vince isn’t giving away many details about the full menu plans yet, but I’ve seen references to pasta… and another comment on Facebook mentions “Italian-inspired cuisine”… Which for all Traveling Tomato fans (and new fans too) this can be said for that Ash & Oak Restaurant in Williamstown, New Jersey means nothing but exciting things

Now we are excited to open our first brick-and-mortar restaurant on Main Street in Williamstown, New Jersey. Rooted in tradition but driven by innovation, Ash & Oak is where the warmth of fire meets the heart of Italian-inspired cuisine, providing a space to share great food with friends, family and neighbors.
