70 people die in gang attack, Prime Minister travels abroad to seek security help

At least 70 people, including three young children, were killed in a major gang attack on a small village in Haiti on October 3, according to the United Nations. Gunmen stormed through the Pont Sonde in central Haiti, firing automatic weapons and setting fire to houses and vehicles. Haitian Prime Minister Garry Conille embarked on a trip to the United Arab Emirates and Kenya this weekend to seek security assistance in response to one of the deadliest armed attacks in the country in recent years. More than 3,600 Haitians have died from gang violence this year.
