Providence police are investigating the incident in which shots were fired and a dog was injured

(WJAR) — Providence police are investigating a shooting incident that injured a dog Saturday evening.

The incident occurred on Washington Avenue around 7 p.m. and authorities believe the dog’s owner was the possible target.

The dog was quickly taken to a veterinarian for treatment.

The department said it was looking for two suspects who fled on foot wearing all black.

There were no arrests.
