Several injured after boating accident in Patuxent River – Southern Maryland News Net

On Saturday, October 12, 2024, at approximately 1:15 p.m., police, fire and emergency services responded to the area of ​​the Governor Thomas Johnson Bridge on the Patuxent River to respond to a reported boating accident with injuries and one person ejected.

Emergency callers reported that a small center console boat hit a hard wave, throwing the operator out of the boat and into the water.

The occupant was brought back into the boat before first responders arrived.

Firefighters from the Bay District, Hollywood, Second District and Solomons volunteer fire departments responded to the scene. Crews located the stricken vessel and confirmed that all four occupants were on board.

Second District VFD Fire Boat 6, Hollywood VFD Raft 7, Solomons Boat 3 and a Department of Natural Resources boat coordinated efforts to remove all four patients from the vessel. The patients were brought safely to shore, where waiting paramedics provided further care.

Three patients were transported to an area hospital. One patient was evaluated, but it is unknown if he was transported or signed treatment refusal forms.

Department of Natural Resources police responded and are investigating.
