A female motorcyclist was killed and a young passenger was flown to hospital in a horrific motorcycle accident near Bega

A woman has died and a child has been taken to hospital after an accident between a motorcycle and a car.

The accident happened at around 1pm on Sunday on the Old Mill Road in Wolumla, about 20km south of Bega.

The motorcyclist, a 34-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A six-year-old boy who was riding pillion on the bike was treated at the scene by paramedics for non-life-threatening injuries before being flown to Sydney Children’s Hospital.

He is reportedly in stable condition.

The driver of the car, a 28-year-old woman, was treated for shock before being taken to hospital in Bega for mandatory tests.

The local police have identified a crime scene. An investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
