1 person dead after shooting in Summerville neighborhood, SPD is investigating

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) — One person died Saturday after a shooting in the Lakes of Summerville Subdivision just behind Ladson, Cpt. Chris Hirsch said.

The shooting happened around 7:15 p.m. The suspect was arrested, but local law enforcement has not identified the person or released his charges. Additionally, the identity of the deceased has not been released by the county coroner’s office.

The report of the shooting was first noted by the Summerville Police Department on social media around 8 p.m. The scene of the shooting has been secured and there is currently no threat to the community, police said.

Hirsch emphasized that there is no major threat to the public.

Although a suspect is in custody, Summerville police believe the investigation is ongoing.
