Charlotte McKinney knows how to turn lemons into lemonade. Despite being bullied at school and suffering from a chronic illness, the model-turned-actress and stand-up comedian eschewed university to find her own path and used her Instagram account to pursue a full-fledged Hollywood career . How did she do that?

She was bullied at school

Born in Florida in 1993 to Terry and Susan McKinney, the 31-year-old revealed in a TikTok video that she never imagined being a model other than helping her father create photos for his used car business.

Growing up, she was bullied for her dyslexia and body shaming because she developed earlier than her peers.

“I just grew these big breasts at such a young age without knowing what to do with them or how to wear them. So it was definitely embarrassing,” she told Ocean Drive magazine.

Her negative school experiences led her to leave school as soon as she turned 17. She later gained attention on Instagram and, according to Us Weekly, secured a major deal with American fast food giant Carl’s Jr. for a Super Bowl ad in 2015.

In the 52-second ad, she introduces Carl’s Jr.’s All-Natural Patty by running naked through a busy farmers market – and captured the attention of millions during the biggest sporting event of the year.
