Bukayo Saka leaves England camp amid Arsenal injury scare

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka will not travel with the England team to Finland after suffering an injury against Greece.

During Thursday’s 2-1 defeat at Wembley, the 23-year-old was noted to be feeling unwell and holding his right back before being substituted.

Interim manager Lee Carsley confirmed after the game that Saka was being “evaluated” after he “felt something in his leg”.

Carsley is clearly not taking any risks with the player’s fitness as the winger will remain in England while the team flies out, as will Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones.

“Curtis Jones and Bukayo Saka will not travel to Finland,” said an FA statement on Saturday, a day before the Three Lions face Finland in the UEFA Nations League in Helsinki.

Saka has returned to Arsenal for further assessment after being substituted in the second half of Thursday night’s game against Greece.

“Liverpool’s Jones remains in England due to a personal commitment.

“A 22-man squad will now fly to Helsinki on Saturday afternoon ahead of tomorrow’s UEFA Nations League match.”

Saka is now questionable to travel to Bournemouth in the Premier League next weekend, but Arsenal hope he will be available for the all-important game against Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium at the end of the month.
