The Montgomery Police Department is hosting the 2nd Annual Cops and Community Car Show

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – The Montgomery Police Department connected with the community at its second annual Cops and Community Car Show in downtown Montgomery.

This event brought together law enforcement, local churches and car enthusiasts for a family-oriented day of fun.

“It allows us to work together to convey the same good message to the public: ‘Hey, this is a wonderful way to do business.’ This is a wonderful way to interact as a community and share our messages of peace, brotherhood and sisterhood. Messages that bring us closer together in a good, common and great purpose,” said Interim Police Chief James N. Graboys.

Pastor Paul Gourdine of Engaged Christian Church says community involvement is a pillar of his church.

“This is a perfect opportunity for us to engage with police officers and the community and be on site to meet people, engage with them, encourage them to get involved and bring our community together,” said Gourdine. “What better way to do that than with those who are called to protect and serve?”

Both the churches and police present at the event want to emphasize that they are here to serve the community.

“We are part of the community, just as the community is part of us,” Graboys said.

Pastor Gourdine says collaboration and collaboration between police, church and community helps encourage youth.

“Cops is not a bad word; “That’s a good word,” he said. “They help keep the negative elements out, and we as church partners help them push better elements in so that our children not only have a chance to fight, but also have more of a chance to thrive in the great city of Montgomery be.”

The Montgomery Police Department is looking for more people who want to protect and serve. Applications are now possible.
