Man arrested for shooting his teenage son for listening to music too loud; Pedestrian hit and run without injuries – your local news

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents from September 27 to October 3, 2024. Due to length, this report has been divided into five parts. This is the last part. Please note that an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Violent Domestic Violence – Davis St – In reference to a man who shot his 15-year-old son with a handgun because he was listening to music too loud. He was taken into custody and warrants were issued for assault, reckless conduct, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and cruelty to children. He was taken to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office and turned over to jail staff.
  • Insane – Baker St: The patient complained of pelvic pain and requested transport to the hospital. Handed over to EMS.
  • Other Law – Douglas St: Plaintiff, who lives on Douglas Street, called 911 on neighbors who live on Douglas Street because they were putting out deer corn, smoking weed, and playing loud music. Contact was made to residents and they were advised to turn down the music. The complainant was upset with the neighbors for calling her about animal control and CPS.
  • Roadway Obstruction – South Madison Ave: Regarding a burst water pipe. Monroe Utilities was notified and responded.
  • Road Obstruction – Charlotte Rowell: Referring to a tractor trailer blocking the roadway. Negative contact area checked.
  • Accident – ​​W Spring St at HWY 138. Two vehicles, no injuries. Driver 1 was arrested for following the driver too closely and drinking alcohol. Report accepted.
  • Accident – ​​W Spring St at HWY 138. Two vehicle, with injuries. Driver 1 was arrested for improper U-turn and drunk driving. Turned over to Georgia State Patrol.
  • Argument – Davis St: The complainant flagged down an officer and advised her that her cousin was trying to fight her. Officers met with a person who informed them that their cousin had threatened them. Advice given. The parties were separated.
  • Incoming Car – E 5TH St: While investigating a call of a suspicious person in the area, the officer observed a car in the process of pulling in. The suspect was arrested after he fled the scene on foot upon initial contact. Arrest warrants were secured and the probation period was announced.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – HWY 78; The Jax. Related to the alarm company that advises vehicles on site. The concrete team was on site and working. Everything OK.
  • Unsecured Vehicle – Armistead Cir. Alluding to an open door on a Jeep. Contact was made with the registered owner who advised he had forgotten to close the door. The door was secured and the vehicle was locked by the owner. Everything OK.
  • Alarm – E Spring St – Doors and windows secured. Everything seemed to be fine on site.
  • Suspicious Vehicles – Matthews Park: Couple walking around the lake after work. Advice given.
  • Suspicious Person – E. Washington St; Peters and Fosters – Referring to a named subject on site with a clenched fist, screaming and shouting. The individual refused transportation to Advantage for a mental health evaluation and was criminally barred from the site for one year.
  • Hit and Run – South Broad Street – Referring to a City of Monroe truck that was struck by another vehicle. The suspect vehicle did not stop. Handed over to GSP.
  • Vehicle Unlocking – West Spring Street – Vehicle unlocked with no damage.
  • Warrant Warrant – 140 Blaine St. – In reference to a parole violation warrant out of Walton County. The subject turned himself in and was taken to the Walton County Jail without incident.
  • Fraud – 140 Blaine St; MPD – Regarding Complainant’s report that her EBT card was used fraudulently in New York. Report prepared and sent to CID.
  • Dispute – Michael Cir. – Regarding an argument between a local resident and an unknown person in which a firearm was allegedly drawn, chambered and immediately holstered without being pointed at anyone. The resident stated that he did not feel threatened by the crime. Report accepted.
  • Road Blockage – Alcovy/Oak Ridge – Regarding dirt dumped on the Oak Ridge roadway. Contact was made to the company that disposed of the debris and they informed them that they would take care of it.
  • Civil – Bold Springs Rd. – Regarding a previous civil case in which a person advised that the other party’s statement was untrue. Remedial measures recommended.
  • Funeral Attendance – E. Spring St. @ S. Madison Ave – Regarding assisting WCSO with traffic.
  • Agency Support – Maple Ln. – Regarding an agency assistant, I was able to speak with the individual for Gwinnett DFCS about a welfare check on the individual’s daughter.
  • Shoplifting – W Spring St; Home Depot. Regarding a shoplifting incident that last occurred at 2:16 p.m. Approximately $935.00 worth of merchandise was taken. Report accepted.
  • Dispute – Roberts St: Relating to a dispute between four people. Remedial action was recommended and the parties separated for the night.
  • Harassment – Tanglewood Dr.: Complainant wanted a report about her ex-boyfriend threatening to come to her home. She said the phone call was a threat. Incident was documented.
  • Pedestrian Hit and Run – North Broad @ Highland Ave: A pedestrian crossing crosswalk was struck by a gray pickup truck which then left the scene. No injuries. Report accepted.
  • Prowler – Walton Road: The complainant called 911 because an unknown person had placed an object on her patio chair. The complainant left her glasses on the table and forgot to leave them outside. Everything was fine.
  • Other Law – Wendy’s: The person was called about a detective coming to their place of work. The person was advised to contact CID during business hours.
  • Dispute – Davis St: Regarding the person who was heavily intoxicated in the residence and caused a disturbance. The subject calmed down and everything was fine.
  • Disabled Vehicle – West Spring St: The vehicle was stopped in the roadway. The vehicle was removed from the road.
  • Alert – HWY 138; Lady. All doors and windows were secured. Everything seemed to be fine on site.
  • Alert – The Jax Apartments: Area patrolled on foot. Everything OK.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – Matthews Park: Vehicle on scene after hours. The driver was informed about the parking times.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – Hwy 78 @ Hwy 138 – Referring to a white truck that was stopped with emergency lights on. Driver asks for directions, everything is ok.
  • Vehicle Inspection – Heritage Ridge Dr. – Regarding carrying out a vehicle inspection. It turned out that everything was in order and the T-22B form was filled out accordingly.
  • Alert – Stone Creek Bend – Contact local residents. The reported alarm was a coincidence. Everything okay.
  • Warrant Arrest – Cherokee Ave – Regarding an anonymous male who told a named female subject that he was on scene with an active warrant. The subject was arrested at the scene and transported to the Walton County Jail without issue.
  • Suspicious Person – S Hammond Drive & Wilkins Dr – Referring to a person running down the road and into the woods. Contact was made, everything ok.
  • Harassment – Towler St – Female subject indicating she was approached by a neighbor’s friend on Monday afternoon because she and the neighbor were having problems. Remedial measures recommended.
  • Shoplifting – West Spring Street @ Quality Foods – Referring to an unknown male who stole fourteen packs of cigarettes from the store. Report prepared and sent to CID.
  • 911 Hang-Up – Great Oaks Dr – Contact local staff. Accidental call reported.
  • Incoming Car – West Spring Street @ Piedmont Walton – In reference to an incoming car that occurred the previous night. Surveillance footage collected, report prepared.
  • Accident – ​​Pavilion Pkwy; Publix – Two vehicle accident on private property with no injuries, GEARs report completed.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – New Lacy St – Negative contact related to a go-kart traveling in the roadway.
  • Identity Theft – Persimmon Chase – Plaintiff was called regarding identity theft. Report accepted.
  • Accident detection – Breedlove Dr. on McDaniel St – checked the area and had negative contact with any vehicle in the area or a vehicle accident in the area.
  • Other Legal/Warrant Services – Atha Street – Female subject has been located in reference to a specific case. She was arrested on her outstanding warrant out of Barrow County and trespassing at Chevron on South Broad. Transported to WCSO Jail without incident.
  • Assault Report – Ridge Road – Regarding a male subject who was assaulted by three males due to ongoing issues. Denied medical attention. The victim refused to file a report and received redress.
  • Other Law-Pine Park St: Regarding the complainant’s reference to lights being on inside the residence. The complainant said the owner was detained and no one was allowed to be on site. The apartment was checked and all windows and doors appeared to be secure. Everything seemed to be fine on site.
  • Traffic Stop – Highway 11 / Waffle House – Vehicle stopped for lack of valid insurance. The vehicle did not have valid insurance and the driver did not have proof of insurance. The vehicle was impounded and turned over to Taylor’s Wrecker Service.
