Experience “The Outsiders” at Righetti High’s Black Box Theater | Arts and entertainment

The Righetti High School Drama Department will present “The Outsiders” on October 17, 18, 24 and 25 at 7:00 p.m. in the school’s Black Box Theater (Room 403), with a preview screening on Wednesday, October 16, at 7:00 p.m.

“The Outsiders” is about the character Ponyboy Curtis and his struggle with right and wrong in a society where he believes he is an outsider.

The play, based on the novel by SE Hinton, who wrote it when she was just 15, is about the challenges of a teenager grappling with what it means to be an adult, separation and friendship find while simultaneously coming to terms with life and loss.

“I continue to be impressed by the far-reaching impact of ‘The Outsiders,’” said Righetti acting teacher Elesa Carlson. “I continue to hear from so many, old and young, who have been deeply touched by this story at a crucial age because it is so deeply connected to the teenage experience.

“Our talented actors feel it too and are so ready to share its message with our community. “We are thrilled to tell this powerful story.”

There are 26 students who run the show between technology and crew. Several students from Ag Mechanics and Welding and the RHS Art Club also took part in the set.
