One person arrested for drunk driving following a crash in Scottsbluff

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNOP) – One person was arrested following a crash at the intersection of Highway 26 and Avenue I on Friday at 11:34 p.m

According to the Scottsbluff Police Department, a white 2005 Chevy Trailblazer driven by 41-year-old Henry Gonzalez of Scottsbluff was traveling north on Avenue I when it crashed into a dark blue 2015 Lincoln MKC. The driver of the Lincoln was traveling south on Avenue I and began turning east from Avenue I.

Police said Gonzalez was driving under the influence of alcohol. He was subsequently arrested for drunk driving, driving while banned, possession of open containers of alcohol and failure to provide proof of insurance. In addition, it was discovered that Gonzalez had an active domestic violence warrant for his arrest and he was also taken into custody.

One driver suffered minor injuries, but neither had to be transported from the scene by emergency transport. Both vehicles sustained significant damage and were towed from the site.

The intersection was closed for approximately 50 minutes while the road was investigated and cleared.
