Fatal early morning car accident in Owings

Owings, MD – At approximately 4:40 a.m. on October 12, a caller reported a motor vehicle accident on Northbound 4 and Skinners Turn Road. Emergency crews responded and discovered a heavily damaged vehicle resting on a telephone pole after the impact. Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling at high speed and crashed into the mast after becoming airborne. The driver’s side of the vehicle was completely crushed and there was significant damage to the rest of the vehicle. State Police responded to the scene and determined the driver was deceased. No additional victims or vehicles were reported. The scene of the accident was cleared around 9:30 a.m. The driver’s identity was not released.
