2 shots, 1 dead in shooting near IU-Indy campus

INDIANAPOLIS — Two people were shot and one person is dead following a shooting near the IU-Indy campus early Saturday morning.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to a report of a person shot around 3:30 a.m. in the 900 block of Indiana Ave

When officers arrived, they found two victims with gunshot wounds.

According to police, one of the victims was taken to hospital in critical condition and was unfortunately pronounced dead.

The second victim was also taken to the hospital and was last reported to be awake and breathing.

The incident happened so close to the IU-Indy campus that IU police alerted the student body via social media.

IU Indy Alert: Near 10th and Indiana Ave. shots were fired. Police are looking for a person in a red truck. Avoid the area.

Police have not provided any information about possible suspects or whether any arrests have been made at this time.
