Carjacking suspect accused of shooting 4-year-old girl and tampering with evidence

SAN ANTONIO – Two suspects accused of involvement in a car theft ring have been accused of fatally shooting a 4-year-old girl and wounding four others in a horrific attack earlier this year.

On Thursday, 19-year-old Bryan Xavier Salazar and 20-year-old Isaiah Peralez were arrested in connection with a car theft ring.

However, investigators believe that one of those stolen vehicles, an Infinity Q50, was used in the fatal shooting of four-year-old Maryann Lynn Marble, which also injured her parents and two other siblings.

Investigators believe the shooting may have been in retaliation for the death of Salazar’s stepbrother, 27-year-old Xavier Perez, who was killed shortly before the incident.

By searching the suspect’s phones, police were able to uncover Salazar’s search history as well as text messages between other suspects in the carjacking group discussing the Windsor Hollow murder.

Investigators were also expected to uncover previous searches for an Infiniti Q50 key fob, as well as searches in the months prior for a “Mini-Draco,” the firearm allegedly used in the shooting.

When Salazar was arrested, the vehicle he was in was found to contain 1.7 grams of marijuana as well as an IOTV ballistic armor system, which may also have been used in the shooting.

Officers also uncovered conversations between Salazar and his mother in which she actively encouraged him to get rid of his current cell phone and delete his previously used emails and online accounts.

Salazar was arrested and charged with possession of 1.7 grams of marijuana, tampering with or fabricating physical evidence to delete his online accounts, and factory resetting his phone.

So far, neither Salazar nor Peralez have been charged in the murder case, nor in the shooting attack on the other four family members. Court filings suggest that could soon change.
