According to HPD, the driver is in critical condition following the accident, leading to a confrontation with the suspect who opened fire, hitting the victim four times

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A man was in critical condition after he was shot four times during an alleged altercation when another driver crashed his car in a parking lot in southwest Houston.

Houston Police Department officers responded to the scene of an accident near Windswept Lane and Unity Drive around 12:20 a.m. Saturday and found a man, believed to be in his 20s, suffering from gunshot wounds.

According to preliminary witness statements, the victim was sitting in his car with a friend in a parking lot with several food trucks near a residential building.

The victim and his friend allegedly confronted the suspect, who backed his truck and hit the car the two were in.

During the altercation, the victim was shot.

“Other people helped and eventually fought the suspect and took the gun from him. When that happened, the suspect fled and left,” Lt. R. Willkens.

Investigators said they believed they knew who the suspect might be but were still working to identify him.
